Increased sedentary time from 6 hours/day in childhood to 9 hours/day in young adulthood may potentially cause a significant increase in total body fat mass and trunk fat mass during growth from childhood to young adulthood. However, engaging in at least 3 hours/day of light physical activity may be more effective than 60 minutes/day of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity in reversing and preventing worsening fat mass obesity.
