In a study led by Dr Francisco Lai Tsz-tsun, Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Pharmacy and the Department of Family Medicine and Primary Care, School of Clinical Medicine, HKUMed (right), the findings revealed that the use of certain sedative-hypnotic medications was moderately associated with an increased risk of bone fractures, estimating at 30 to 40%.
