Graphical abstract of single-cell gene-regulatory networks.

Caption

To understand how atherosclerosis develops, scientists studied both mice and humans with the disease. They looked at individual cells within the arteries at different stages of the disease to see how the cells change as the disease progresses. They also looked at groups of genes that work together in the arteries of people with heart disease.
