Antibiotics face a looming efficacy concern as the microbes these drugs target are acquiring resistance stemming from years of treatment misuse. Now, researchers led by César de la Fuente of the Perelman School of Medicine, School of Engineering and Applied Science, and School of Arts & Sciences have developed an artificial intelligence tool for mining genetic elements from ancient molecules to discover new antibiotics.
