Adaptive radar has a much easier time finding and tracking objects in flat, simple geographies like the Utah Salt Flats (left) than it does complex terrain like Mt. Rainier (right). Recently published research is using AI to take geographical maps like those shown into account to push adaptive radar into an entirely new tier of effectiveness.
