CDCA7 specifically binds to hemi-methylated DNA in the nucleosome

CDCA7 binds to the hemimethylation site in the major groove of nucleosomal DNA without base-flipping. R274 confers preferential binding of CDCA7 to a hemimethylated CpG. The side chain of Q275 is located within hydrogen bond distance of the cytosine and guanine of the unmethylated CpG on the complementary strand.
