Schematic diagram depicting the mechanism of the rigid matrix regulating cell glycolysis in degenerated NPCs. In degenerated NP tissue, MRTF-A was activated by increased matrix stiffness and transferred into the nucleus, thus reducing Kidins220 expression and inhibiting AMPK phosphorylation.
