Simultaneous detection of multiple target molecules by a cocktail of artificial cells (IMAGE)
Caption
When an external target molecule enters an artificial cell by membrane permeation, if a riboswitch-gene fusion specific to the target is present inside, a glowing protein is expressed from the gene via binding between the target and the riboswitch. It is possible to change the color of the glowing protein for each target, allowing multiple targets to be detected simultaneously in different colors. See the above paper (open access) for the experimental results.
