A clip showing features observed in tomographic slices, including the M. smegmatis outer and inner membranes (green arrows), DNA-filled capsids (blue arrows), and host-attached tails (pale green arrows). The video then shows a scan through the slices, with capsids appearing and disappearing at different depths in the stack. The area shown in Figure 1E is zoomed into and the visible capsids are overlaid with the structures obtained through subtomogram averaging.
