Structure of widely used therapeutic agents - metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) (IMAGE)
Caption
Porous crystal structures of MIL-100 (iron-based) and NH₂-MIL-125 (titanium-based) used in a mouse study on pulmonary exposure. These MOFs were found to alter hematopoietic activity in the lungs, bone marrow, and spleen, with MIL-100 inducing stronger inflammatory and oxidative responses. Structural composition and metal centers played a key role in determining the extent of immune disruption.
