Ary Bruand is a professor at Université d'Orléans (President of the university of Orleans from 2016 to 2020). His research has primarily focused on the structure of soil and its mechanical, hydric, and hydraulic properties. He has made significant contributions to the development of tools for predicting water retention in soils across various geographical regions, including Beauce, Burgundy, Lorraine in France, Morocco, Brazil, Thailand, and Zimbabwe. His work in mathematical functions, known as pedotransfer functions, has been instrumental in forecasting soil water retention, sensitivity to settlement, and water transfer.
