A qubit is the quantum equivalent of a classical bit. In this work, the qubit is implemented as a superconducting quantum system threaded by a magnetic flux, which determines its energy splitting E. Magnetic noise causes fluctuations in E, leading to decoherence. To counteract this, a field-programmable gate array (FPGA) powered controller continuously estimates changes in E using a binary search algorithm (1, 0, 0, …). The FPGA then adjusts the control microwave pulses in real time.
