Insights into non-photochemical quenching in Arabidopsis thaliana (IMAGE)
Caption
Scientists from Institute of Science Tokyo (Science Tokyo), Japan, have mapped the mechanism by which the DAY-LENGTH-DEPENDENT DELAYED-GREENING1 (DLDG1) protein influences non-photochemical quenching. Arabidopsis mutant plants lacking the DLDG1 gene showed reduced photosystem-II maximal quantum yield, indicative of poor efficiency in capturing light energy during photosynthesis.
