Precision targeting of the centromedian nucleus in epilepsy treatment

Locating the centromedian nucleus (CM) for deep brain stimulation (DBS) is challenging with standard imaging. This review highlights advanced methods—high-resolution MRI, intraoperative neurophysiological recordings, and diffusion tensor imaging—that improve CM localization and electrode placement. Combining these approaches could enhance DBS outcomes for patients with drug-resistant epilepsy.
