How the muscles contract: linear ubiquitination in T-tubule shaping (IMAGE)
Caption
Researchers from the Institute of Science Tokyo have used a Drosophila model to understand the underlying mechanism of T-tubule formation. The results show the involvement of LUBEL, an E3 ubiquitin ligase, in the T-tubule biogenesis. The study uncovers an unexpected function of linear ubiquitination in membrane deformation, driven by BAR-domain proteins.
