Mesophotic reef in the Indian Ocean

An image taken at Egmont Atoll, Chagos Archipelago, Indian Ocean in March 2020 using the Saab Seaeye Falcon ROV. The image is at approximately 40m depth, looking up slope from the mesophotic reef towards the shallow reef. The image shows a community of reef-building corals, soft corals, sponges and crustose coraline algae.
