UBL3-mediated sorting of proteins into small extracellular vesicles (IMAGE)
Caption
A conceptual illustration showing how ubiquitin-like 3 (UBL3) modification acts as a molecular “tag” that directs selected proteins into small extracellular vesicles (sEVs). Inside the secreting cell, UBL3-modified proteins are packaged into multivesicular bodies and released as sEVs, which then travel to and interact with recipient cells, enabling cell-to-cell communication.
