Novel photoreactive probe enables the sensitive detection of 5-formylcytosine in target DNA

Researchers from Institute of Science, Tokyo, have developed a light-sensitive probe that crosslinks with 5-formylcytosine (5fC), a key epigenetic intermediate, enabling its detection in target DNA. The study demonstrates the potential of a DNA chip sensor with the probe in the detection of 5fC intermediate in biological samples, paving the way for the development of sensitive diagnostic tools.
