In the animation, the daily changes in soil surface conditions are shown in greyscale (white to black; note snow cover changes are also included).
The more rapidly changing colours (yellow, pink and red) are where and when (small, medium and large, respectively) sediment transport occurs.
Feedback between changing soil surface conditions and changing sediment supply can be seen when the light-coloured pixels (small threshold) become dark coloured (large threshold) very rapidly, typically after transport occurs.
