Tiger bush landscape in Niger (IMAGE)
Caption
The road from Kouré to Baboussay in Niger runs through an area of tiger bush vegetation. This type of vegetation gets its name from the tiger-like pattern of alternating bands of dense vegetation (trees, shrubs) and bare or barren ground. Close to the horizon there is a sharp boundary between the tiger bush area and the Sahelian plain with its sparse vegetation.
