Magnetically guided, transferrin-modified nanoliposomes for targeted harmine delivery in glioblastoma therapy (IMAGE)
Caption
Schematic illustration of the synthesis of HM@MNLs-Tf—magnetic nanoliposomes loaded with the anti-tumor compound harmine and surface-modified with transferrin for glioblastoma targeting—and their proposed anti-glioma mechanism. The formulation combines transferrin receptor-mediated transport across the blood–brain barrier with external magnetic guidance, enabling precise accumulation in glioblastoma cells, sustained drug release in the acidic tumor microenvironment, and reduced neurotoxicity by limiting harmine exposure to healthy brain tissue.
