Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) is studying impact flashes generated by high-speed collisions to remotely identify materials and material response. Pictured are SwRI’s Dr. Pablo Bueno and Ben Uresti using the Institute’s large two-stage light-gas gun to create hypervelocity impacts representative of missile defense intercepts and meteor impacts.
