Proposed model of a self-reinforcing autoimmune loop in Sjögren’s disease (IMAGE)

Ro60-specific T cells promote anti-Ro60 antibody production in B cells. These antibodies form complexes with Ro60 proteins released by damaged cells, and the complexes are taken up by antigen-presenting cells. These cells then display Ro60 peptides to Ro60-specific T cells and activate them further, completing the loop.
