Scaling asphalt pavement research to better understand skid resistance (IMAGE)

Improving a vehicle’s ability to resist skidding on slippery pavement requires more than adjusting just the tires or just the pavement, according to a new review study by an international research team. Rather, they explained that creating safer road conditions relies on research at different scales: from the microscopic interactions of materials comprising asphalt up to macro-scale understandings of the environment.
