Metal-ion-dependent target switching by cahnodttlin-binding peptide (CBP) (IMAGE)
Caption
Calmodulin-binding peptide (CBP) binds calmodulin in the presence of calcium ions but recognizes human midkine in the presence of sodium ions.
These findings suggest that CBP functions as a natural peptide aptamer capable of switching its target protein depending on the surrounding metal-ion environment.
