Energy-landscape and microstructure engineering of Mo-doped high-entropy niobates for extreme-temperature sensing (IMAGE)
Caption
Schematic illustration of the design strategy and sensing performance of Mo-doped high-entropy niobate ceramics. High-entropy lattice regulation and Mo incorporation reduce the mismatch between grain and grain-boundary transport barriers, producing a highly linear thermal response from −50 to 1250 °C (R2 = 0.99907). During aging at 1250 °C, post-densification, controlled microstructural evolution, and ferroelastic stress relaxation enhance long-term stability, resulting in a stabilized-stage resistance drift of only 1.09% after 1000 h. These features make the ceramics promising for thermal monitoring in hypersonic vehicles, aero-engines, and advanced energy systems.
