Loss of sSJ proteins causes persistent apical aPKC in intestinal progenitor cells and promotes stem cell overproliferation (IMAGE)
Caption
In the normal intestine, apical aPKC is reduced in differentiating progenitor cells as sSJ proteins accumulate. Loss of sSJ proteins causes persistent apical aPKC in late-stage progenitor cells, leading to stem cell overproliferation. These findings reveal a previously unrecognized role of cell-cell junction proteins in regulating stem cell homeostasis.
