Atomic-Level Conversion of Lignin to High-Value Chemicals (IMAGE)
Caption
This graphical abstract (TOC) illustrates the green catalytic process of transforming 2,6-dimethoxy-1,4-benzoquinone (DMBQ), a derivative of wood-based lignin, into 1,4-cyclohexanediol (CHDO) in a pure water environment. By utilizing an ultrafine ruthenium (Ru) nanocluster catalyst supported on CeO2 nanorods, the research team achieved a record-breaking 96.7% yield.
