Oxygen vacancies improve the function of electrolytic manganese dioxide (MnO2) as an aqueous zinc-ion battery (AZIB) cathode material. (IMAGE)
Caption
Ball-milled manufactured electrolytic manganese dioxide (MnO2) introduced oxygen vacancies in the manganese dioxide (MnO2) crystal lattice structure through striking and sheering, improving its conductivity and suitability as a cathode material for AZIBs. AZIBs are a safer, more affordable alternative to lithium-ion batteries.
