Reinforcement methods for cable trays using steel wires (IMAGE)
Caption
Simple steel-wire arrangement (left) and proposed steel-wire arrangement (right). In the simple arrangement, the wires are placed only in the diagonal direction, causing slippage at the turning points as the cable tray deforms and limiting the wires’ ability to provide sufficient resistance. In the proposed arrangement, a single steel wire is placed alternately in the diagonal and transverse directions to provide more effective reinforcement. The wire direction is switched at the locations of the seismic-resistant elements and at the midpoints between them to accommodate the deformation of the cable tray.
