Neuronal Brake (IMAGE)
Caption
Blue GABAergic interneurons take the form of a Japanese folding fan above an adult glioma. The fan’s cooling breeze symbolizes inhibitory circuit activity that dampens tumor calcium dynamics, counterbalancing the red heat of oncogenic excitation at the tumor–brain interface. In Uesaka et al., inhibitory synaptic input restrains adult glioma progression by suppressing calcium-driven YAP1/mTOR programs, revealing a circuit-based tumor-suppressive force within the brain microenvironment.
