Energy management system for a renewable energy-integrated fish farm (IMAGE)
Caption
Schematic of the renewable energy-integrated recirculating aquaculture system modeled in this study. The energy management system coordinates solar and wind power, battery storage, and grid electricity while controlling aerator operation. It uses a dissolved oxygen model developed from experiments with Malabar grouper to determine when aeration can be adjusted without allowing dissolved oxygen to fall below the prescribed safety margin. In simulations, this approach reduced electricity use and CO₂ emissions.
