Hyodeoxycholic acid (HDCA) helps reduce steatosis in liver through two pathways (IMAGE)
Caption
Researchers treated high-fat diet-fed mice with HDCA and found that it reduced liver fat accumulation through two pathways involving iNKT cells/IFN-γ and GLP-1. HDCA increased liver iNKT cells and IFN-γ signaling, which increased PPARα activity and fatty-acid oxidation (FAO). It also increased GLP-1 signaling, which increased PPARα activity and FAO, helping reduce fat accumulation in the liver.
