A color map of blood flow through the brain, captured at high resolution with a 7 Tesla MRI scanner. Right: A map showing how densely cells are packed across the brain's outer layers, based on a detailed reference brain atlas. Comparing these two views allowed researchers to create CCSI, the study's new measure of how closely blood supply matches brain cells' energy needs.
