Failure mechanisms of conventional transition-metal sulfide catalysts and bottom-up design of high-entropy catalysts for all-solid-state lithium–sulfur batteries (IMAGE)
Caption
The left panel illustrates the self-poisoning, structural degradation, interfacial cracking, phase separation, and solid-state electrolyte degradation associated with conventional transition-metal sulfide catalysts during cycling. The right panel shows a bottom-up-designed high-entropy catalyst that forms interfacial bonding with Li2S, facilitates electron and Li+ transport, and lowers the energy barrier for Li2S oxidation.
