Schematic illustration of the preparation of composition-tunable water-soluble glycopolymers from 4-trehalosamine. The naturally occurring amino group of 4-trehalosamine was converted into a polymerizable acrylamide monomer, enabling the synthesis of water-soluble polymers containing controllable amounts of sugar units.
