Cellular senescence is characterized by permanent cell cycle arrest, morphological changes, metabolic reprogramming, and the senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP), and is associated with various age-related diseases, including cardiovascular, neurodegenerative, metabolic, pulmonary, and musculoskeletal disorders, as well as cancer.
