$4.5 Million Grant Funds New Disease-Resistant Strawberries (IMAGE)

The UC Davis Public Strawberry Breeding Program and colleagues in California and Florida have received a $4.5 million grant from the National Institute of Food and Agriculture of the US Department of Agriculture to improve the disease resistance and sustainable production of strawberries throughout the nation. The California Strawberry Commission has also pledged $1.8 million to the UC Davis program. The UC Davis program is led by Professor Steve Knapp, seen here in a greenhouse at the UC Davis Department of Plant Sciences.
