This is where most of the brown adipose tissue is located and thus the main source of heat generated from non-shivering thermogenesis. Image B: The same animal in hypoxia. The animal is darker in colour and very close to the background colour, indicating that the animal’s body temperature has been reduced to basically the ambient temperature (or very slightly above).
