Coral sperm motion is governed by pH

Hemaphroditic coral, like this Montipora capitata, release both eggs and sperm into the water. New findings from Penn biologists reveal that the mechanism by which sperm begin to move is both pH-dependent and similar to the pathways used in a variety of other creatures, including humans.
