Yihan Wang (left), a Ph.D. student in the University of Wyoming’s Doctoral Neuroscience Program, and Qian-Quan Sun, a UW professor of zoology and physiology, examine a mouse brain image captured with the UW Microscopy Core’s new slide scanner. The two scientists learned that a recurrent neural network structure, or RNN, is responsible for decision-making, expressive language and voluntary movement in the brain’s frontal cortex.
