Researchers from the University of Illinois (pictured), along with Cornell University, the University of Arizona, and the Boyce Thompson Institute will use a $25M NSF Science Technology Center grant to establish the Center for Research on Programmable Plant Systems (CROPPS). They aim to develop tools to listen and talk to plants and their associated organisms to help plants better cope with challenging environments.
