A small black and white ball is used in research that studies how the brain coordinates movement and sensory function. Kevin Daly, WVU professor of biology, examines fruit flies that stand and walk on the ball under a specialized microscope. Daly received $1.6 million from the National Science Foundation to expand his research, which may lead to practical applications for human disease and human performance.
