Adenovirus DNA transfer (IMAGE)
Caption
Incoming adenovirus particles (AdV) dock at the nuclear pore complexes of a human cell's nucleus (NPC, dashed line). The cellular enzyme Mind bomb1 (Mib1, grey-white structures) primes them for unlocking and removes protein V (GFP-V, green dots). The uncoated viral DNA genome is then imported into the nucleus. The arrow highlights a virus particle containing both protein V and Mib1, yellow denotes particles containing protein V, and red shows particles lacking V and Mib1.
