Scheme for soliton generation in microresonator-filtered fiber lasers.

A passive nonlinear microresonator is nested in an active fiber laser cavity. Self-starting soliton microcomb with low noise, high mode efficiency, and high output power was demonstrated. Intriguing phenomenon such as soliton Newton’s cradle was observed with an ultrafast time magnifier for the first time.
