Not-yet-cultured CO2-fixing bacteria are sorted by Raman-activated Gravity-driven Encapsulation (RAGE) technology at single-cell resolution according to Raman shifts, and the subsequent single-cell sequencing discovered a rhodopsin-based light-driven proton pump in target cells.
