Phillip Jones, postdoctoral researcher in Penn State’s Department of Ecosystems Science and Management, who spearheaded the research, stands in one of the gaps in which trees were removed to allow light to reach the forest floor, created in the study area by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Division of Forestry.
