Wavelength-dependent changes in multimode fiber transmission are highly deterministic, and accurately compensated by new model.

(a) Knowledge of its transmission matrix at an optical frequency ω0 allows focusing through multimode fiber at this frequency but fails to provide spatial control of the transmitted pattern beyond a very narrow frequency range. (b) The multispectral transmission matrix, efficiently calibrated by parametric modeling of its modal dispersion, provides spatial control over a more than hundred-fold extended frequency range.
