Caption
Lead telluride only has one type of atom (lead) in the metal sites, leading to low entropy. In contrast, if the metal site can potentially be occupied by one of five metal atoms, the ways in which the metals can be arranged become varied, leading to high entropy. Both alloys undergo a transition in their crystalline arrangement with pressure.
