The response of the human gut pathogen Clostridioides difficile to clinically relevant antibiotics can be altered by antibiotic-induced reduction in the strength of gut microbiota inter-species competition (top) or genome-wide shifts in the transcriptional activities of C. difficile in the presence of a key commensal human gut species Desulfovibrio piger (bottom).
